In the iPhone found more vulnerabilities than in Android


During the existence of smartphones Apple iPhone - from 2007 - they found more vulnerabilities than in smartphones Android, BlackBerry and Windows.

In 2012, the mobile operating system iOS, supervising the execution of iPhone, was found 56 vulnerabilities. For comparison, the Android platform was found six vulnerabilities in BlackBerry - three vulnerabilities in Windows Phone - one vulnerability. We are talking about the vulnerabilities for which information contained in the database Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE).

Analysts pointed out that Apple did not pay particular attention to safety in the launch of the first iPhone, but since then has been considerable work in this direction.


As for the family of mobile operating systems Windows, the experts took into account all types of platforms, including: Windows CE, Windows Mobile, Windows RT and Windows Phone.

It is noteworthy that in the platform of the security vulnerabilities that Apple increased every year. With each new version of iOS includes all new and new security features.

Analysts said the large number of vulnerabilities discovered in iOS, can be linked to its popularity. For example, the share of the Android platform in 2012, increased to 68.4% compared to 48.7% in 2011, while the share of iOS was only 19.4%, according to Strategy Analytics. However, last year, was found in the Android fewer vulnerabilities than in 2011.

In addition to mobile platforms, analysts considered the vulnerability in desktop and other platforms, and the total number of vulnerabilities that were found each year for the past 25 years.

The largest number of vulnerabilities have been found in 2006 - 6612. In 2012, the number of vulnerabilities has risen to 5281 compared to 4151 in 2011.
