Microsoft Security Essential once again named the worst anti-virus program

Microsoft Security Essential the worst anti-virus

Dennis Technology Labs Company has evaluated the eight major antivirus software, giving them the rating in two categories - accuracy, and security.

Free antivirus software Microsoft Security Essential (MSE) has once again proved the inability to adequately protect your computer. Dennis Technology Labs Company from October to December 2012 Evaluated eight leading antivirus software, assigning a rating of two categories - the accuracy of detection and protection. During testing, the experts found that the MSE for the specified parameters lags far behind the rest of the program.

Accuracy rate not only indicates that the product protects the system from malicious programs, but it defines the legitimate application. Depending on how the program is to prevent threats and allows to install and run lawful applications, experts Dennis Technology Labs awarded each of them a certain number of points.

Products tested:

- AVG Internet Security 2013;
- BitDefender Internet Security 2013;
- ESET Smart Security 5;
- Kaspersky Internet Security 2013;
- McAfee Internet Security 2013;
- Microsoft Security Essentials;
- Norton Internet Security 2013;
- Trend Micro Internet Security 2013.

MSE accuracy rate was at 30 out of a maximum 400, while Norton Internet Security, version 2013, was 388.5 points. In addition, the test program is rated from AAA to C. MSE did not take any position, with five of the remaining seven products were rated at least A.

Indicator of the level of protection determines how the program will neutralize threats and protect them on a scale of 300 (maximum value) to -500. MSE has reached a point at -70 and was the only program that has a negative evaluation. Other products were evaluated in the range of 250 to 300.

Experts have determined that MSE protects against 59% of the threats, while the average was 92%. Program Trend Micro Internet Security 2013, reached its highest rate of 100%. In this case, MSE has never reported a false threat, as in the case of the anti-virus software Kaspersky Internet Security 2012.

It is worth noting that among the tested antivirus MSE was the only one free.
