NFC-TAN Online Banking

NFC-TAN Online Banking technology designed to protect online-banking

At the Hannover Fair was presented design that combines technology and TAN NFC.

The largest exhibition in the world computer industry CeBIT-2013, held from 5 to 9 March this year in Hanover, introduced a new development designed to enhance security systems online-banking.

Experts German company GFT Technologies, together with the University of Tübingen in Germany, have developed a method banking NFC-TAN, combining two previously used technology - TAN (Transaction Authentication Numbers) and NFC (Near Field Communication).

The first technique consists in the fact that, every time a user from their computer performs bank transfer, the bank sends the TAN-number that identifies each transaction. It can only confirm that if the server or mobile online bank receives the correct code from the client. Currently TAN-codes are sent to customers in the SMS-messages, or are generated by the chip, issued by the bank.

NFC is a wireless communication technology which enables the exchange of data between devices at a distance of about 10 centimeters. Technology proposed by GFT Technologies, like TAN-chip to generate the numbers, where the role of the chip supports mobile device. User shows 2D-code it on camera phones, and secure banking application in the phone generates TAN-code applicable to online account user. However, the code does not appear on screen, and is transmitted by wireless technology NFS.
